the date: 24 august 2007
the venue: hotel intercontinental, room 518
the time: 1900 hours
the crowd: the helpers and the BACHELORETTE.
the dress code: pyjamas
this was the invite that was given to all who attended! the original copy would have read: i have a friend in you.
a
not everyone arrived on time yesterday evening though, but everyone was given a goody bag, artfully and meticulously prepared by the maddies (cousins) and my dear second sister. the rationale for the get together was for the wedding helpers to get to know each other better, and to brainstorm for ideas! naturally, it was also a bachorlerette's hen party (sort of).
sometimes i really question the sanity of my family members.
a
when everyone had left, leaving fraemone, marietta, mel and i to stay over, the cousins (frae, marie and i) sat together to bond and talk while one merrily snoozed away in the background.
as you can see from the pictures, we were like three old rickety people sitting around an old english fire place.
a
and naturally! a must-have picture of maddie no. 2 and her mad mane.
a
well, of course, no hotel stay would have been complete without a soak in the bathtub, which i went before anyone woke up this morning! after that, it was buffet breakfast followed by some shopping, suit fitting and cell group!
more photos from the day here!
hope all of you had a great weekend like i did!

updates for last week
i drafted this post last week, but never got a chance to publish it because i wanted to attach some pictures along with it. so here's some updates on what i've been up to! i think i had quite a fruitful week considering what i managed to accomplish with what little time i had.
firstly, i managed to get my suit tailored for my sister's wedding in october, its a three buttoned suit in a medium grey shade! hope it turns out well though.
secondly, i met up with faisal and lynette on wednesday, its been quite a while since i met Lynette, the last time being mid april. so yes, it was fun hanging out and reminiscing about the past.
Then it was Justin and Pinky on friday evening for a little catching up session, i liked how justin did up his room, so i conned some ideas out of him for my room. i must say, it did expose certain flaws in my original plan!
finally, i helped my sister with the design of her dinner invite! its quite a nice experience laughing over what looks good and what looks bad. even though the whole thing took a good 7 hours, i must say, its well worth the trouble even though the name photoshop itself gives me heart palpitations now! i certainly hope that the printouts look equally good as it did on the computer.
and before i end this post, another song for what's left of the week!
may you have a blessed week ahead!

little updates
i understand that i haven't been updating and it totally defeats the purpose of keeping track of things that i've done this year.
so here's a what's happening recently!
1) Kelly and Fiona's wedding photoshoot- 26 July 2007
well, i got roped in to be the 'help' for that day, so needless to say, it was a very fufiling day because i never got to experience so many things in one day!
the photographer's blog: http://kelvinkoh.livejournal.com/
more pictures can be found here!
and one word for this video during the photoshoot- priceless.
2) Fraemone's 21st birthday party- 29 July 2007
as you guys can see, i've had a very eventful week as Kelly and Fiona's wedding photoshoot was 3 days earlier!

maundy thursday
It was Maundy Thursday yesterday! Apart from swimming (yet again!), Kenny, Christopher and I decided to have lunch at Aston's! for those who don't already know, Aston's is this place opposite Katong Mall serving fantastic western food at really affordable prices! I had grilled pepper fish whereas they both had chargrill chicken, and i must say, this is one of the places that will have me going back for more! Did i mention that Kenny was the driver for today? well, it's a blessing and I'm thankful for it! So after returning home full and 5 shades darker, i got ready for the Maundy Thursday Service and it was truly an eye-opener because it was amazing how a psalm (psalm 22) written 800 years before Christ was born could trace accurately Christ's crucifixion and even provide a glimpse into the present times. Furthermore, i was told that the word excruciating actually comes from the root word crucify! this gives more meaning to the word 'excruciate' because it has taken on a whole new meaning for me.
Overall, it was a busy but rewarding day for me! So how was your day?

feast for four
so the day before (wednesday), i started out my day swimming with pinky (real name: zhi rui). i don't really recall why we call him pinky but i guess it has to do with him being a splitting image of that pinky in 'pinky and the brain'. i suppose the resemblance isn't that great now, but trust me, back then, he was much much much fairer and hence the nickname.
i know this is going to sound strange, but it was my FIRST time trying MOS burger in my entire life! so imagine my enthusiasm when my rice burger arrived, i believe it was called Ebi Rice Burger though. and that pretty much explains why i had to take a picture with my first ever MOS (rice) burger.
next on, shu'en, pinky and i went to the national library to borrow books because our resident bookworm has ran out of books to read! (cue the audience gasping music).
finally, i headed down to kenny's place for a feast! the food was great (although he claimed that he was out of touch with cooking!), and the company even better. he even managed to prepare a MENU for the dishes! i can only imagine the effort gone inside the meal!
so naturally, amie, christopher and i had a sumptuous home cooked meal followed by dessert! as if dinner wasn't sinful enough, we managed to wash it down with four shots of bailey's. looks like its time for swimming again!

choir outing (overdue)
it was a choir outing long overdue, so on tuesday, the six of us-- amie, christopher, faisal, kenny, lynette and i went to swensens for some catching up!
we had a great time overall! but i believe it could have been better, if not for lynette and faisal's early departure (i'm not actually blaming anyone here!).
So the four of us scooted around the esplanade and we managed to catch this live performance! it wasn't that amazing, but i guess the company sort of made up for the ambience! but all in all, i had a wonderful time with the choir people!
